"While I walked to the villa, I thought of Mama’s demise in the days leading up to her screaming midnight departure. Mama had stopped showering. She didn’t eat. She didn’t blink. All she did was mutter about Loonies and poisonous mushrooms. Those memories made me feel hollow, so I decided, instead, to think of nothing."
